St. John’s United Church of Christ readies for Malawi Missionary project. St. John’s United Church of Christ, 1811 Lincoln Way East , Chambersburg is taking on a special mission. Dr. Jon and Amanda (Martzluf) Fielder and their two young sons are preparing to serve four years in Malawi , Africa as medical missionaries through African Inland Missions. They will be stationed at Lilongwe . Several fundraising projects have been planned to help the Fielders raise funds to support their mission. The first project is the sale of wristbands in the Malawi national colors with Malawi HIV-Aids written on them. These sell for $3.00 each and are available through the St. John’s church office. Wristbands have become a collectible item and are popular with people of all ages.
The second project will be a “Meal with a Mission ” on October 12th in the St. John’s Fellowship Hall where Dr. Fielder, medical missionary will speak about his medical ministry to the people of Africa. He and Amanda will be presenting video, photos, and discussion of their work in Kenya and Malawi. At 4:30 PM there is a meet and greet reception with the Fielders. At 5:30 PM a meal of Pizza and salad bar will be served. Price is $5.00 (adults), $3.00 (kids 6 -12) and under 6 free. The Fielders’ presentation will follow the meal. We will end with a Delectable Dessert Taste-Off which will serve as a fund-raiser. Members of St. John’s will contribute creative and tasty delectable desserts and those who attend will sample them and vote for their favorite by making a donation in the appropriate container.
St. John’s Praise Team will provide inspirational music during the evening. This event promises to be an informational and fun evening. There will be a free will offering to help the Fielders raise the funds to support their mission. The project will culminate with Fernando Ortega in concert on Saturday, November 8, 2009 at the Capitol Theatre, 159 South Main Street , Chambersburg . Tickets may be purchased through the Capitol Theatre box office at 717-263-0202 (for credit card orders) or by calling the St. John’s church office at 717-263-8593. Tickets are $23 per person in groups of 20 or $25 per single ticket prior to the event. Tickets sold at the door will be $30. Rick teaches classes in Japanese and English. Evangelism church planting and Bible teaching are goals. ********** Victor & Eliza Ho - Biblical Ministries World Wide - Hong Kong Victor and Eliza have been ministering in Hong Kong for the past 10 years. They work with Tuen Mun Faith Baptist Church. ********** Dan & Barb Kees - Interact Ministry - Canada Dan and Barb serve with Interact Ministry in Lethbridge, Alberta and have been a sharing and teaching ministry among the Blackfoot Indians. ********** Timothy Mulehi - AIM - Kenya Timothy is a national pastor serving the African Inland Church. He is involved with many types of outreach programs, desiring to see new churches planted. ********** Chris & Elizabeth Robertson - Mexico Chris and Elizabeth are serving in Mexico. Their goals are to plant a church, Biblical discipleship, train national pastors, start an orphanage, and evangelistic work. ********** John & Ruth Salinger - Hebrew Christian Fellowship - Israel John and Ruth have been serving in Israel since 1984, faithfully telling Jewish people that Jesus is the Messiah. ********** Don & Gail Schuit - Missionary Retreat Fellowship - Lake Ariel, Pa. Don serves as the director of MRF and Gail is the assistant treasurer. This missionary retreat is a "home away from home" for missionaries on furlough, providing housing, schooling, and fellowship with other missionaries. ********** Evans Sira Sira - Kenya Evans Sira Sira is involved in planting churches and evangelism. ********** Eric & Wendy Stottlemyer - New Tribes Misson - Dakar, Senegal Eric & Wendy work with tribal people. ********** Fred & Norma Wittman - Biblical Ministries World Wide - Wilmington, Delaware Fred & Norma have a tract and literature ministry.
