This 174-acre recreation area has a variety of recreational activities for residents and visitors, owned and operated by Washington Township.  There are seven hiking/biking trails (3.04 miles), a pony league baseball field, softball/little league field, and a soccer field,  two playgrounds, horseshoe pits, and a sand volleyball court.  The Dunlap Family Skatepark for skateboarders and rollerbladers is now open--more information about the skate park and Pine Hill is available at the Washington Township website

Directions:  from downtown Center Square take PA Rte 16 East (Main St.) to Rouzerville.  Once through Rouzerville you will start to head up the mountain.  Make a left on Beartown Rd.  At the yield sign (no longer a stop sign), make a left onto Mentzer Gap Rd.  The park entrance is 0.2 miles on your left.  The address is 12684 Mentzer Gap Rd.

Red Run Park, Rouzerville

This is  the oldest park owned by Washington Township. This 22-acre park was presented to the Borough of Waynesboro in 1938 and became the property of Washington Township in 1969.  The park consists of a man-made lake, picnic areas, playground equipment, public restrooms, concession stand, and miniature train.  The lake was closed for swimming in the 1970’s and has been used for fishing and ice skating since that time and is a very popular year-round spot.

The Red Run Express is scheduled to begin running on Sunday, May 11, 2008, and will run every Saturday, Sunday, and holiday between Memorial Day and Labor Day from 1-5 pm, weather permitting and volunteers being available.  If you can help operate the Red Run Express or help at the train station, contact Sandy Smith at the Township office, 762-3128.  Red Run Park information is available at the Washington Township website.

Royer's 1812 stone farmhouse is today known as Renfrew Museum.   A tour of the house shows the kitchen, dining room, parlors, and bedrooms, with period home furnishing throughout.  The museum houses the Nicodemus collection of decorative arts (pre-1830), including furniture, pottery, porcelain, glass, silver, and textiles, and the work of Waynesboro potter John Bell. The museum  is now open for the 2008 through mid-October.  Museum hours are 12- 4 pm Tue. - Fri., & 1- 4 pm on Sat. & Sun. (closed Mon.).  General admission:  adult $5.00, seniors $4.50, children $3.50, under 7 free.
