Red Run Park, Rouzerville
This is the oldest park owned by Washington
Township. This 22-acre park was presented to the Borough of
Waynesboro in 1938 and became the property of Washington Township in
1969. The park consists of a man-made lake, picnic areas,
playground equipment, public restrooms, concession stand, and miniature
train. The lake was closed for swimming in the 1970’s and has
been used for fishing and ice skating since that time and is a very
popular year-round spot.
The Red Run Express is
scheduled to begin running on Sunday, May 11, 2008, and will run every
Saturday, Sunday, and holiday between Memorial Day and Labor Day from
1-5 pm, weather permitting and volunteers being available. If you
can help operate the Red Run Express or help at the train station,
contact Sandy Smith at the Township office, 762-3128. Red Run Park
information is available at the Washington
Township website.
